This month’s blog is brimming with exciting and informative topics that we’re sure you’ll find helpful! For our March edition of Web Wisdom Wednesday, we’ll delve into the world of Social Media, including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, exploring some tactics for Linkedin and discussing the imminent collapse of Google Business Profile generated websites!
We’ll also discuss the importance of hiring a professional web developer and how it compares to working with a friend! You can also find out a bit more about our services.
Love It Or Hate It, Social Media Is Here To Stay
If you have been living under a rock since the early two thousands, social media platforms are online tools or apps that allow users to share content, including text, images, and videos, and interact with others. Businesses can utilise social networks to enhance brand awareness, engage with their audience, and gather valuable customer and competitor insights.
Facebook is the most widely used social media platform worldwide, with over 3 billion monthly active users. After Facebook, the most popular social media platforms are YouTube and Instagram.
Here are a couple of hacks for our favourites:
Facebook…
Claim your page’s URL. When your page is created, it will get a randomly generated URL and create a “vanity” URL (like facebook.com/YourBusinessName).
Optimise your “about” section! Make sure to edit your business page to include a description, a link to your site, your hours, your phone number, etc.
Instagram…
Creating an Instagram Business Profile can offer you a range of benefits. With a business profile, you can set up a shop where users can purchase your products directly, enable online reservations, add your contact information to your profile, add links to your Instagram Stories, promote your posts, and view your analytics. This can help you to establish a robust online presence, connect with your customers, and grow your business.

Too Much On Your Plate?
Have one less thing on your plate. Let WDSEO help.
Are you spending too much time preparing quotes that are often rejected or not even acknowledged? Are you taking on unprofitable jobs that don’t contribute to your business growth? Do you feel like you are not generating enough leads or being ranked lower on Google than your local competitors?
Running a business can be a rewarding experience, but it also comes with its own set of challenges and stress. We understand the difficulties of managing a business and the various challenges that come with it. As a company specialising in websites for tradespeople and service business owners, we are well-equipped to take on new clients and have a proven track record of previous work and knowledge gained about the subject.
Our specialty is to alleviate as many of your worries as possible, so you can focus on what you do best and have more time for things that matter to you.
Google Websites Are Sinking!
Google has ceased operations for over 20 million websites built through their Google Business Profile Website service.
Visitors will be redirected to the respective Google Business Profile on Google Maps until June 10th, after which the websites will no longer be accessible and will go to a 404 ‘page not found’ error. Leaving you without a website and your potential customers at a dead end.
We can bail you out!
At WDSEO, we can create a new website with a simple and hassle-free process. We will chat about your business, send you a free personalised quote, and design and build your professionally branded, SEO-optimised website. We take care of all your digital marketing needs, including website management, leaving you more time to focus on your business.

Linkedin Tactics
Ready to boost your brand visibility on LinkedIn? Here are some key tactics to get you started:
1) Cross-posting: This is a technique where you share the same post across all your social media platforms. For example, you can create a post on Facebook and then copy and paste it to LinkedIn as well. This approach maximises your content exposure and helps you gain more traction. Ideally, you should generate different posts for each platform to cater to the specific audience and optimise the delivery. However, cross-posting is an effective method for building your online presence and getting more posts out there.
2) Consistent posting: Aim for at least a couple of posts per week to keep your presence active and engage your audience regularly.
3) Proactive engagement: Don’t just post and ghost! Engage with other brands and individuals by commenting on their posts to increase your visibility.
For B2B companies, striking the right balance between impressions (how many people see the post) and engagement (how many people interact with the post) is crucial. Both metrics are important for a successful LinkedIn strategy. Define your goals, assess your strategy, and find the sweet spot.
Remember, LinkedIn is all about building professional relationships. Use the platform’s metrics wisely to enhance your influence and visibility. And when it comes to hashtags, stick to two: one popular and one niche to maximise engagement.
Great Friend… Not A Web Developer Though.
Proceed with caution when considering a friend for your website design! While you may be tempted to work with a friend or someone you’ve known a long time, it might not be the best choice in the long run.
Your website isn’t just a digital presence; it’s your virtual storefront, the face of your brand.
Sure, your friend might do it for you for next to nothing, but do they have the expertise to create a site that truly represents your business? Building a successful website requires more than just a good eye for design. It’s about understanding user experience, navigation, and the psychology behind online behaviour. Also, we all know nothing is ever free, so don’t end up paying for your site in time, frustration, or even anger!
An experienced website designer (like us) brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. We’ll work closely with you to craft a site that not only looks stunning but also functions seamlessly, guiding visitors through to the pages you want them to see most. Don’t settle for anything less than professional excellence!

Is your website on the chopping block?
Google is currently pulling the plug on over 20 million websites created through their Google Business Profile Website service; all of these sites have now been removed and will redirect your customers to Google Maps. However, by June 10th, these sites will vanish into thin air, providing nothing more than a 404 ‘Page not found’ error, leaving you stranded and potential customers lost in the digital abyss.
But fear not! We’ve got your back at WDSEO. We specialise in crafting professional, SEO-optimised websites that stand out in the digital crowd. From design to management, we handle everything so you can focus on what you do best – running your business.
