The challenge
Before approaching us in the late autumn of 2025, Harts Fascias had worked with a different web design company. As Jon put it, that company had ‘promised the world’, but the results were a far cry from that. He knew there was a problem when his phone had suddenly stopped ringing. To make matters even worse, Jon wasn’t getting any enquiries through the website either.
After ‘a bit of panicking’, Jon decided to look for other web companies, and a quick Google search led him to WDSEO. When we first looked at his existing website, we were shocked to discover it advertised plumbing services (Jon is not and never has been a plumber), in addition to ‘Lorem ipsum’ placeholder text. We realised we had to start from scratch.
What we did
After Harts Fascias contacted us, we had a two-hour long meeting at our office in Plympton, which helped us get to know Jon and understand his trades business and his priorities.
As Jon explained, concrete gutters can develop a range of problems, including structural stress, leaks, damp, and poor thermal performance. These can worsen over time, potentially causing significant damage to buildings and contributing to damp.
Our task, then, was to build a trades website that highlighted Harts Fascias’ main focus while also showcasing their wide-ranging expertise in all types of roofing services.
Step 1: Building a professional trades website
Working closely with Jon throughout the entire process, we planned, wrote, and designed a trades website that looks good and works flawlessly on all devices. We used the company logo as a starting point to develop an appropriate colour scheme and included original images to show the quality of Jon’s work and make the company stand out.
Additionally, the website answers important customer queries, such as ‘why should you replace your old concrete guttering’, and features clear calls to action to make the user journey a lot easier.
Launched in December 2025, the site was also optimised for terms like ‘guttering Plymouth’ and ‘concrete gutter replacement’. This meant that, even though Jon decided not to take SEO for tradesmen at first, his brand new website laid a solid foundation he could build on.
But we weren’t finished just yet.
Step 2: Setting up Google Local Service Ads
As part of our PPC services, we offer Google Local Service Ads (LSAs), which we knew would be a perfect fit for Harts Fascias & Roofing. Specifically designed for local service businesses – such as plumbers, electricians, locksmiths, and roofers – they typically appear at the very top of Google search results when someone searches for a relevant local service.
Unlike traditional Google Ads, businesses only pay for genuine leads, such as a phone call or enquiry, rather than paying every time someone clicks on the ad.
Having explained to Jon how Local Service Ads could help put his trades business in front of nearby customers who are actively looking for his services, we set them up and managed them for the first month.
Since we weren’t offering ongoing Google Local Service Ads management at the time (you’ll no doubt be pleased to learn that we now do!), our PPC Manager held several meetings with Jon to show him the ins and outs of these types of ads. This way, Jon would be able to manage his LSAs himself from that point on.
The results in detail
As of the time of writing (August 2026), Harts Fascias’ website has been live for less than a year.
However, the results for the first six months alone have been quite impressive.

- 68 free quote requests and contact form submissions
- 531 unpaid website visits
- 340 website visitors (including 333 new visitors)
- 113 x links to the website were shown to a user in a generative AI feature on Google
- 59% engagement rate (64% via Organic Search)
- 20,500+ organic Google search impressions
In addition, Harts Fascias & Roofing also rank in the top 5 organically on Google UK-wide (not just in Plymouth) for ‘guttering Plymouth’ and ‘guttering repairs Plymouth’.
