About Jarvis Nuclear
Dr Paul Jarvis, Director of Jarvis Nuclear, is a certified Radiation Protection Advisor and Chartered Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS), providing specialist nuclear safety, radon and radiation protection services throughout Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, and Dorset. Founded in 2017, the company also delivers RPS training courses, which can be tailored to meet the specific needs of individual organisations.
Jarvis Nuclear work with a wide range of organisations, homeowners, property buyers, schools, and colleges in the South West of England, helping them measure radon levels and providing expert advice on any necessary steps to minimise potential risks.
The challenge
Paul Jarvis had designed the company’s first website himself. However, he ended up spending too much time managing and updating the website – time which he would rather spend working with clients instead.
In effect, running his own website was costing him money. He needed a website that works as hard as he does. Once he realised that, Paul did what most of us do in these circumstances. He went on Google, where he found WDSEO and decided we were the right fit for him.
What we did
When Paul contacted us, we were thrilled to work on a website for such an interesting consultancy. Radon levels are quite high in parts of Cornwall and Devon, which is why helping businesses like Jarvis Nuclear move forward is vital for the health and safety of our local communities.
So, we knew we had to build a website that truly reflects the company’s work and credentials.
Here’s how we went about the process.
Step 1: Building a website that’s easy to find and use
Working with Paul to help realise his vision, we designed and developed a small business website that showcased his qualifications and expertise. It also made his services clear and easy to understand by non-professionals. At the same time, the website was easy to navigate, enabling a seamless customer journey.
Launched in July 2024, the new website was fully responsive and optimised for terms such as ‘radon Cornwall’ and ‘radon Devon’. Where previously organisations had struggled to find a radiation protection advisor in their local area, they were now coming across the Jarvis Nuclear website and getting in touch.
But that was just the beginning.
Step 2: Ongoing SEO services to boost rankings & generate more leads
We first spoke with Paul about monthly SEO services during our kick-off meeting, and he agreed that SEO would play a key part in keeping the website high in the rankings.
As part of our ongoing monthly SEO services, we have focused on improving Jarvis Nuclear’s visibility across search engines such as Google and Bing, as well as AI-powered search platforms.
This included creating an Areas we serve page, which is currently developing into a series of dedicated geo-targeted pages aimed at locations where the company wants to provide its key services.
When Paul decided he wanted to expand the areas he covered in January 2026 to include all of Somerset and Dorset, we updated the entire website and added corresponding geopages for the two counties as well as one specifically for the city of Bath.
We have also created an FAQs page designed to answer common questions and attract potential clients.
Alongside this on-site content, we have worked on the off-site elements of SEO, including optimising Jarvis Nuclear’s Google Business Profile and improving their presence across relevant online directories and listings.
Step 3: Adding Stripe payment links to facilitate online shopping
With growing demand for radon measurements across the South West of England, Paul decided to offer long and short-term radon detector kits for sale in November 2025. Since he already had a Stripe account, this was a good place to start.
Our developers then added payment links on the website, while our content writers worked with Paul to optimise the two product descriptions and add mentions to the new service offered where relevant.
To help promote sales, we also added educational content on the importance of radon testing, starting with a dedicated guide and moving on to related frequently asked questions.
The results in detail
Since Jarvis Nuclear’s new website went live, it has helped generate consistent enquiries month after month.
Here are some of the key figures for the 12 months to 31 July 2026:
- 196% growth in phone calls
- 69 contact form submissions, up 57% from the previous year
- 49 clicks to buy a long- or short-term radon detector (since December 2025)
Jarvis Nuclear also rank 1st on Google in the respective locations for Radiation Protection Advisor Plymouth, Tavistock, Exeter, Torquay, Truro, Falmouth, Devon, Dorset, and Somerset.
What’s more, Jarvis Nuclear’s Google Business Profile has had 908 views and received 299 interactions in the last six months (as of the time of writing).
