When did you join the team?
I joined the Web Design and SEO Company in August of this year as Digital Marketing Executive with a focus on supporting current and potentially new clients with their online visibility. The main responsibility of this role involves thinking creatively outside of the box to create individual content, maximising the client’s visibility online though SEO campaigns. With 19 years’ experience in marketing, mainly in public service but more recently as Marketing Executive at Devon & Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, I am hoping to bring a wealth of Marketing knowledge to the role and the team.
Where have you worked before?
I am a Plymouth girl, born and raised here and come from quite a large family within the area. So, when I moved up to Surrey in 2002, to work in London, I had a yearning to come back to my roots after a few years.
I had various roles within the Civil Service including eight years working for the Passport Office. In this time, I worked on various Marketing channels, including the company magazine, website content and project work, not to mention the ID cards campaign.
After this, I took various contracted jobs around the area, including working for international defence company, Thales, and then on to a typesetting company, Letterpart. I moved back to Plymouth in 2013 and secured a role at City College Plymouth working in PR and Communications. I then broadened my marketing knowledge even further and took the leap into retail marketing, joining the Range in 2016.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I am a bit of a cat mad person – I am the proud owner of two of the cutest Rag Dolls. This breed of cat is so friendly it’s like having a couple of small dogs around the house, they are great company. They have also spent a little bit of time doing a spot of modelling for cat products at the Range – it took a bit of time, but I managed to capture the images for the designer to add to the packaging.
I do like to travel – visiting different countries and experiencing different culture is a passion of mine, in fact I wish I could do more if I had the time and when the restrictions are lifted (hopefully not too long now).
What has been your favourite experience abroad?
Back in early 2000 I spent three months in India, an experience I would advise anyone to try given the opportunity. Whilst I spent most of my time in New Delhi, I also had the opportunity to visit the Taj Mahal and I also got to spend two days white water rafting through the Ganges River (where the Ganges is glacial green) – which was amazing! Something I will never forget.
What are you looking forward to in your new role?
I’m really looking forward to contributing to this team and taking on this very varied, exciting and interesting role, where I can really utilise the skills I have gained previously but also grow within this new environment. It’s a pleasure to be part of a team that is at the forefront of Web Design and Search Engine Optimisation, and I look forward to learning more about the business and meeting the clients going forward.
