Meet the Team – Paul Morrissey

Dec 16, 2021

What is your role at WDSEO?

I have recently started at the company as a Junior Web Developer working with John, Matt P, Matt B and Joe.

Did you always want to work in the web development field?

I’ve always had a keen interest in web development and web technologies in general and always saw it as a career option. When I was younger, I taught myself HTML and CSS, mainly through books but also by tinkering around with Myspace layouts. Whilst completing a BSc in Applied Computer Science, I started expanding my knowledge of frontend/backend programming and continue to do so as part of my own CPD.

What’s your favourite part about working for WDSEO?

Even though I’ve only been with the company a short time, everyone in the team is lovely; they are the best part about working for WDSEO so far. They have all made me feel so welcome and are happy to answer any questions I may have.

What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?

I’ve always been interested in gaming and therefore I can often be found unwinding in front of my PC, playing Final Fantasy 14 or one of the latest game releases.

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

I’m at my most productive at night, so I would say I’m a night owl.

If you won the lottery what would you spend your money on?

I would make sure all my family were financially comfortable and then I would buy myself a big house, a brand new car and maybe even a small boat for holidays.

What was your first job?

My first job was working in a family-owned pasty shop. I only worked there over one summer holiday period, but I loved every minute of it.

What skill would you like to master?

I would like to be able to play the piano and play it well. Sadly, I never took lessons when offered them at school and I often wish I had.

Tell us an unusual thing about you, that not everyone knows about.

The only instrument I learnt how to play was the Steel Pans (often referred to as the Steel Drums).

If you had a time machine, would go back in time or into the future?

Future. I’m still waiting for the flying cars from Back to the Future and the food replicator from Star Trek.

What was the last movie you went to? What did you think?

Ghostbusters: Afterlife – As a big fan of the originals, I like the direction they’ve gone with it. Interested to see if we get any sequels and how they develop the storyline.

What do you see as your greatest achievements in life?

I returned to education as a mature student to complete a degree in Applied Computer Science. I found parts of the degree quite tough, but I managed to complete it with First Class honours, so that’s up there as one of my greatest achievements.
