What is your role at WDSEO and what does it involve?
I’m the PPC Manager at WDSEO and I’ve been with the company since 2021.
The role involves working with clients to determine what they’d like to achieve with their marketing, creating an advertising strategy for their Ads campaign, and ongoing management to ensure the adverts continue to maximise lead/sale conversions.
As a Google Partner agency, we’re required to maintain a high standard of work when it comes to the management of Google Ads. This involves ensuring that the accounts we manage are maintained to a high standard, and that we hold and maintain specific qualifications which are renewed annually.
Did you always want to work in the tech industry?
I’ve always had a keen interest in web technologies and always saw it as a career option. When I was younger, I taught myself HTML and CSS, mainly through books but also by tinkering around with Myspace layouts. Whilst completing a BSc in Applied Computer Science, I started expanding my knowledge of frontend/backend programming and continue to do so as part of my own CPD.
What’s your favourite part about working for WDSEO?
Everyone in the team is lovely; they are definitely the best part about working at WDSEO.
What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?
I’ve always been interested in gaming and therefore I can often be found unwinding in front of my PC, playing Final Fantasy 14 or one of the latest game releases.
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
I’m at my most productive at night, so I would say I’m a night owl.
If you won the lottery what would you spend your money on?
I would make sure all my family were financially comfortable and then I would buy myself a big house, a brand new car and maybe even a small boat for holidays.
What was your first job?
My first job was working in a family-owned pasty shop. I only worked there over one summer holiday period, but I loved every minute of it.
What skill would you like to master?
I would like to be able to play the piano and play it well. Sadly, I never took lessons when offered them at school and I often wish I had.
Tell us an unusual thing about you, that not everyone knows about.
The only instrument I learnt how to play was the Steel Pans (often referred to as the Steel Drums).
If you had a time machine, would go back in time or into the future?
Future. I’m still waiting for the flying cars from Back to the Future and the food replicator from Star Trek.
What was the last movie you went to? What did you think?
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: The original is a classic, but the sequel is a lot more modern and fun in my opinion. However, I am aware that there will be people who disagree and prefer the original. Michael Keaton does a great job in both.
What do you see as your greatest achievements in life?
I returned to education as a mature student to complete a degree in Applied Computer Science. I found parts of the degree quite tough, but I managed to complete it with First Class honours, so that’s up there as one of my greatest achievements.
