Moorland Heating, a leading plumbing & heating company in Plymouth for over 20 years, contacted us in 2018 needing a rebrand, a new website and monthly SEO services for their business, which had 12 employees at the time.
Since then, Brendan Wavish, Moorland’s owner, has continued to trust us to this day. We have:
- Designed a second bespoke website as the business grew to 20 employees

- Designed and built a one-page website for their sister company, Sherford Heating.

About Moorland
Based in Plymouth, Moorland Heating are a long-established and highly-trusted plumbing & heating company with over 20 years of industry experience, providing services for boiler installation, servicing & repairs, central heating systems, kitchen & bathroom plumbing, heating system treatments, and landlord services.
As heating & gaswork specialists, they are Gas Safe registered, Which? Trusted Traders, and belong to the Trading Standards Approved ‘Buy with Confidence’ scheme. They are also accredited partners of Worcester Bosch, Alpha, and Vaillant.
The challenge
Moorland Heating’s original logo was now ready for a redesign, and while their existing website was fully functional, it had just a home page, about page, a single services page, treatments page, testimonials page, and location page.
Whilst they had a specific page for their system cleaning treatments, there was very little information to help inform potential customers, and the rest of their services were on a single page. There was no clear indication of where they provided their plumbing & heating services or why customers should choose them over their competitors, and , like their logo, their website was ready for a fresh design.
What we did
To get Moorland Heating’s plumber web design project started, we actually began by designing their new professional logo, which could then inspire the colours and branding for their new website, whilst highlighting their expertise as heating & gaswork specialists.
We used the new branding to design their team’s business cards and also the company letterhead and comp slips. And, later we designed print and digital ads using the branding.
Then, we got to work on professionally copywriting, designing and building their bespoke plumber website:
Step 1: Expanding their services pages & the whole plumber website
Instead of just two service pages, we expanded Moorland Heating’s website to include five service pages to help them generate leads for the specific jobs they wanted to prioritise as heating engineers, including:
- Boiler installations
- Boiler service & repair
- Kitchen & bathroom plumbing
- Heating system treatments
- Landlord services
In addition to their about and reviews pages, we added a gallery to showcase examples of their work, a contact page with a contact form to make it easy for prospects to get in touch, and a boiler finance page to make it easier for customers to install a new boiler.
Step 2: Additional website features
On Moorland Heating’s home page, we integrated a fun advert to highlight their expertise in Worcester Bosch appliances (featuring cats!) and their Facebook feed, where users could see live updates from their business profile.
To make the boiler quote process really easy for customers and to save Moorland Heating from the time and effort of communicating back and forth for quotes, we added a boiler quote page, where we integrated TrueQuote to provide instant boiler quotes and give customers an indicative price for their installations.
Step 3: Ongoing plumber SEO services
As we worked on boosting Moorland Heating’s website rankings through our monthly SEO services, we:
- Populated their online listings & citations across the web, ensuring their NAP (Name, Address, & Phone Number) remained consistent. These helped to send signals that their website is of high quality.
- Added a “Locations we serve” page to show the specific areas in which they provide their services.
From there, we could then:
- Add & link to Geopages – to help them get found as heating engineers in locations further afield from their main service area in Plymouth. These pages act as landing pages, so that, for example, if a client searches for “heating engineers near me”, Moorland Heating can appear straight at the top of the search results!
Over the years, we have also:
- Posted many, many blog posts for Moorland Heating, which have been invaluable to their SEO journey, creating engaging content that new and existing clients can read and enjoy.
Step 4: Growing & redesigning Moorland Heating’s website
As Moorland Heating’s plumbing & heating business grew, so did their website, and we added more pages to their website:
- Prices to provide transparency to their clients about the cost of their services & call-out fees
- FAQs to answer frequently asked questions to help inform customers, helping to save them time from answering the same questions over and over again
- Boiler care to extend their offerings as part of a package, which includes call-outs on boiler breakdowns and a full boiler service
In 2025, they wanted to take their website to the next level with a complete redesign, whilst complementing their branding to make them instantly recognisable. We incorporated Sherford Heating, a trust bar to build instant trust with the customers, case studies to show real results and the quality of their workmanship, and a playful call to action with a cow! (MOOland – get it?)
Their new website’s design also features ombre-coloured buttons and curved edges, giving a soft, flowing appearance.
